History

This style of Jiaoling Shan comes from the Ming Dynasty, which sought to re-establish Han clothing after the Yuan Dynasty fell.

Ming Dynasty clothing is known for being more reserved and modest, draping and covering the body loosely. It's a stark contrast to the Tang Dynasty, which played with more revealing and heavily ornamented styles.

Cross collared tops have an extensive history in Chinese culture. Figurines from the Shang Dynasty (1600 - 1045 BC) show this, and some of the first fabric artefacts are from the Han Dynasty. However, bone sewing needles found in today's Liaoning Province are over 20,000 years old. Now that's old!
